Welcome to The Gadget Chef

Ok so I'm not really a chef, but I do like to play one in the kitchen. I'm your everyday average guy, who is really into 2 things, food and gadgets! And I love combining the two and experimenting with that.

I've tried many gadgets out there, some with success and some with miserable failures. But my biggest goal is to limit what space I take up with what gadgets. As a person with a less than sizable kitchen, counter top real estate is so important I can't be the type that has several gadgets out all the time, and I'm also the type that if it's not out and handy, I'm likely not to use it.

So through the course of this blog I will give out some info on those items I've gotten over the years and how I use them, and some recipes, and be sure to share yours too, or comment if you've tried them

Pampered Chef Mix 'N Chop Review

I'm going to take this time to mention a little gadget that while small in composure can certainly make a difference in some of your meals.  The Pampered Chef Mix 'N Chop, while it started out as a splurge purchase (not much of one as it's fairly reasonably priced), but has proven to be great at what it does.
Pampered Chef Mix 'N Chop

One of the simple things I like to make are Enchilada's, although I guess technically they would be more of a burrito by definition since I usually only use flour tortillas.  However making them in our household is a bit of a trick because my wife is a vegetarian and I am very much not.  So making up a pound or more of ground beef and making a bunch of them would mean I'm eating leftovers for the entire week.  That is not one of my favorite things to do.

Enter the Mix 'N Chop, now I can make just a couple very very easy.  I simply take a couple frozen hamburger patties toss em into a pan, and start them cooking on low, and proceed to grind them up with relative ease thanks to this little gadget, I get more consistent result and with less work with this little tool, than I do crumbling up fresh and just using a spatula.

I have also used it to chop up sausage for lasagna, and it was one my best I've ever created, because the sausage was nice and consistent throughout, no large chunk surprises(not that large chunks of meat are a bad surprise).  But spreading on well ground up meat  is easy and does make for consistent results on lasagna or just about any meal that you might be using it in.

I can see using it in chili, spaghetti sauce, or just about any casserole dish with meat.

Also since it's nylon, it's safer to use on nonstick pans than most other alternatives. I admit though I won't be the first to totally rely on that fact, I will still stick to using it in my stainless steel, just for ease of mind, especially since I can get a little rough with it, as I said earlier, it works with relative ease, it still takes a little muscle at times.

Best of luck in the kitchen.
